Simplifying how people log food to stay on
track with their fat-loss goals - Activate App

Timeline

2019-2020

Overview

Our goal was to create an app that would help users combat insulin resistance, adopt a healthier lifestyle, and practice fasting as a sustainable habit. Recognizing the cumbersome nature of traditional food-logging apps, our team aimed to develop a solution that was intuitive, motivating, and easy to use daily.

The primary challenge was to simplify the food-logging process, making it more engaging and supporting fasting as a daily practice.

Traditional food-logging apps often required users to select specific varieties of foods, leading to a frustrating and time-consuming experience. Additionally, the app needed to support users in maintaining a fasting lifecycle, providing instant feedback, and fostering a sense of community.

Approach

As the Visual and UX Designer, I played an active role throughout the entire design process, from conducting user research to designing the onboarding experience. We began by conducting extensive user research to understand the target audience’s needs, preferences, and challenges, especially related to insulin resistance and fasting. Based on these insights, we developed personas that represented key user segments, considering factors such as age, lifestyle, and health goals.
